Data Retention & Disposal Policy

1. Purpose

This policy defines how Piggy Bank retains and disposes of user data, including financial information obtained through Plaid, in compliance with applicable privacy laws and best practices.

2. Data Retention Periods

Account Data: We retain your account information (email, display name, preferences) for as long as your account is active. If you close your account, we will delete this data within 30 days.

Financial Data: Transaction and account data from Plaid is retained while your account is active and for up to 90 days after account closure, after which it is permanently deleted.

Jars and Budget Data: Your jar configurations and budget allocations are retained while your account is active and deleted within 30 days of account closure.

Logs and Analytics:Application logs and analytics data are retained for up to 90 days for security and debugging purposes, then automatically purged.

3. Data Disposal Methods

  • Database Records: Data is permanently deleted from our Supabase database using secure deletion methods that prevent recovery.
  • Backups: Automated backups are retained for up to 30 days. Data scheduled for deletion will be removed from backups during the next backup cycle.
  • Third-Party Services: We request deletion of your data from third-party services (Plaid, OpenAI) in accordance with their policies and our agreements.

4. User-Initiated Deletion

You may request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by contacting us at info@siqstack.com. We will process deletion requests within 30 days and confirm completion.

5. Legal Holds

In certain circumstances, we may be required to retain data longer than specified in this policy due to legal obligations, ongoing investigations, or dispute resolution. In such cases, data will be retained only as long as necessary to fulfill these obligations.

6. Data Minimization

We follow data minimization principles, collecting and retaining only the data necessary to provide the Service. Unnecessary data is not collected or is deleted promptly when no longer needed.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify users of material changes and update the "Last Updated" date. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
